Pilates can change your life! It is an exercise method that targets the deep postural muscles, building strength from the inside out and helping to rebalance the body by bringing it into correct alignment. The exercises are designed to improve your posture and how you move in your everyday life. They are a balance between strength and flexibility, and it is a great way to relieve unwanted stress and tension.
Victoria Baker Pilates offers Body Control Pilates classes at beginner through to intermediate level.
With courses running across school term dates, covering 40 weeks of the year.
JAN - FEB 2020 Timetable
BeginnersDesigned to teach the principles of Body Control Pilates method including alignment, centering, breathing and co-ordination.
ImproversAfter completing a beginners course, building on the foundations and adding new exercises.
GentleFor those wanting to take their Pilates at a slower pace in order to just keep mobile. Modifications and adaptations made for age related conditions (eg. joint replacements and arthritis).
Level 1Starting to add flowing movement to exercises and developing strength.
Level 2In this course we are refining technique and developing endurance introducing some intermediate & advanced mat exercises.
Level 3An intermediate course, covering some of the more advanced classical mat exercises using much more abdominal strength.
PrivatePrivate lessons designed specifically for you and your requirements. Private lessons can be booked on a one-to-one basis or within a friends and family group.
I qualified with Body Control Pilates in August 2010 as a Level 3 Pilates Matwork Instructor. Since then I have been constantly expanding my knowledge and qualifications by attending classes and workshops that specialise in specific areas of Pilates. My additional training includes:
- Intermediate Matwork Certification
- Body Control Pilates in Pregnancy Pilates 1 and 2 (ante-postnatal) Certification
- Pilates for the Older Person Certification
- Workshops on the Pelvic Floor Function, Pre and Post Hip Operation, Shoulder Function
I began practising Pilates in 2003 and immediately felt the benefits, so much that I became fascinated with the way it affected my body. Aiding me through two pregnancies and inspired by my own instructor I decided to train as a teacher. Since qualifying and beginning to teach I have found that I have learnt a lot from the variety of people that come to my classes – working with people of all ages and abilities. Every single person differs in the way they move and hold themselves and it is this that informs my continued training and knowledge.
